What is the ruling for someone who enters ihram after the miqat? What is required of him?
It is not permissible for someone who comes to Makkah intending to perform Hajj or Umrah to pass the Miqat that he passes on his way to Makkah without entering ihram, based on the hadith of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) in the two Sahihs when he mentioned the Miqats, the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “They are for them and for whoever passes by them from outside their families intending to perform Hajj or Umrah.” And based on the words of Allah the Almighty: “These are the limits set by Allah, so do not transgress them.” Whoever passes the Miqat without entering ihram must return to it and enter ihram from it. If he enters ihram after passing it, he must pay a ransom, which is a sheep slaughtered in Makkah and distributed to the poor, based on the words of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): “Whoever omits a ritual or forgets it must offer a blood sacrifice.” Narrated by Malik in Al-Muwatta’, Ad-Darqutni and Al-Bayhaqi.
